About Me
I have been teaching arts and crafts workshops for 15 years. I started at an educational organisation teaching evening classes then quickly progressed to my own studio. I then ventured out into retail premises for 8 years where I continued teaching a vast array of craft workshops.
My first love is and always will be Mixed Media. This can mean many things to many people as it really has no rules and is all about experimenting and combining different materials. For me it is about pushing the boundaries with a “What would happen if I…” kind of ethos.
In my early days and before the influences of the internet, I would be found stitching into metal, making fabric from paper or using old book pages to create hidden layers in my art work. I then moved on to drawing with the sewing machine, which opened up a whole new world of possibilities!
I have a passion for people and a love of sharing my skills and knowledge so teaching was such a natural progression for me. My attention to detail and endless patience means my students feel welcomed and supported and are always amazed at what they have managed to achieve.
Over the years, I have discovered that people have little faith in their own ability to create, whatever the subject or medium. You don’t have to be ‘creative’ to make beautiful things, you just need the resources and the right guidance ( and that’s my job!) so come along, you might just surprise yourself!
